Hydrology Training

Capacity building activities organized by OKACOM Hydrology Task Force.

OKASEC was instrumental in supporting organization of the Hydrological Task Force (HTF) training and demonstration exercise on use of Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) equipment for water discharge measurement. The first field exercise took place in selected demonstration sites in Namibia, from August 10 to 14, 2010 – Katima Mulilo along the Zambezi, covering sections of the Kuando River, Kongola up to Andara, and Rundu, along sections of the Cubango- Okavango River. The programme also included visits to the existing Namibia HYCOS telemetric stations. Delegates from Angola, Namibia and Botswana attended the exercise and two technical experts from the Department of Water Affairs (DWAF) South Africa joined the team to assist participants with the technical complexity of the ADCP technology.
