A full OKACOM delegation, with representatives of the three riparian states and led by the OKACOM Botswana Co-Chairperson, attended the International Flood Pulsed Wetlands Symposium that took place from February 1 to 5, 2010 in Maun. OKASEC organised a special panel session about the science-policy loop in transboundary river basin management and deployed  a technical filming team that produced daily reflection videos. The daily video captured critical  moments of the symposium and major messages from the discussion, and was posted on the HOORC website on a daily basis, allowing people from around the world to follow the essence of the
major scientific discussions.

OKACOM Co-Chairpersons delivered key note addresses at the opening ceremony and technical plenary sessions. The event created an opportunity for Commission members to directly address scientific issues related to the Basin as well as a platform for expansion of OKACOM’s visibility and recognition as an organization with a science based approach to its decision making processes.
