European Union (EU)

The European Union is a group of 28 countries in Europe. These countries came together to make things better, easier and safer for people. They agreed to work together and help each other. The EU and national governments have set clear objectives to guide European environment policy until 2020 and a vision beyond that, of where to be by 2050, with the support of dedicated research programmes, legislation and funding: o protect, conserve and enhance the EU’s natural capital o turn the EU into a resource-efficient, green, and competitive low-carbon economy o safeguard EU citizens from environment-related pressures and risks to health and well being The EU Regional Indicative Programme for Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean provides a framework within which the EU Programme for Transboundary Management of the CORB is being implemented. The EU project scheduled to be implemented between April 2018 and October 2021 is the grant with the overall objective to strengthen the Cubango-Okavango river Basin governance and promote sustainable management of its water and land resources.
