Dr Krasposy Kujinga Appointed Senior Programme Coordination and Scientific Officer at OKACOM

Gaborone, Botswana – The Permanent Okavango River Basin Water Commission (OKACOM) has appointed Dr Krasposy Kujinga as its new Senior Programme Coordination and Scientific Officer (SPCSO), reinforcing the institution's commitment to advancing transboundary water governance, scientific research, and sustainable development across the Cubango-Okavango River Basin.

Dr Kujinga brings to the position a wealth of experience in water resources management, climate resilience, environmental governance, and regional programme coordination. He has served as Programmes Coordinator at the SADC WaterNet Secretariat and has built an extensive career in research, capacity development, and stakeholder engagement across Southern Africa. His academic credentials include a PhD in Natural Resource Management from the Okavango Research Institute, University of Botswana, with research focused on household water security and sustainable resource management.

The appointment comes at a critical time for the basin, as countries in the region continue to strengthen cooperation on water security, biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable livelihoods. As Senior Programme Coordination and Scientific Officer, Dr Kujinga is expected to support the coordination of strategic programmes and provide scientific leadership

His’s appointment underscores OKACOM's continued investment in technical excellence and regional cooperation as it works towards sustainable management of the Cubango-Okavango River Basin for the benefit of present and future generations.
