United States Agency For International Development (USAID)

USAID leads international development and humanitarian efforts to save lives, reduce poverty, strengthen democratic governance and help people progress beyond assistance. The USAID is working on a programme to improve water security within river basins in Southern Africa with various themes covering water quality, institutional improvement, socio-economic improvement (tourism waste, agriculture, fisheries, forests etc), livelihood enhancement and community mobilisation, biodiversity management, policy review, and the USAID interest on the CORB. In the recent past three five year cycles in the form of projects targeting various aspects have been implemented. These are the Integrated Resource Basin Management (IRBM) project, Southern Africa Regional Environmental Programme (SAREP) and now the Resilient Waters Programme (RWP).
