CORB fund Stakeholders, including The world bank, European Union , The Nature Conservancy and members of the CORB Fund governance structures convened in Gaborone, Botswana, on 9-10 September 2026 for a Capacity Building Workshop on the CORB Fund Investment Policy and Investment Guidelines. The workshop aims to strengthen participants' understanding of the Fund's investment framework and enhance their capacity to effectively assess, prioritize, and manage investments that contribute to sustainable development and resilience within the basin.

The two- The sessions focus on the practical application of the Investment Policy and Investment Guidelines, key investment principles, project screening and selection processes, risk management, and environmental and social sustainability considerations.

Opening the workshop, the Executive Director of The CORB fund Mr Joshua Moloi   emphasized the importance of a shared understanding of the Fund's investment framework to ensure that resources are allocated transparently, efficiently, and strategically to initiatives that deliver lasting benefits for communities and ecosystems across the basin.

The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to operationalize the CORB Fund and equip stakeholders with the knowledge and tools necessary to support informed investment decision-making. Through interactive presentations, group discussions, and practical exercises, participants are exploring how the Investment Policy and Guidelines can be applied to identify and support high-impact projects that advance integrated water resources management, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.

The CORB Fund serves as a dedicated financing mechanism for the sustainable development and conservation of the Cubango-Okavango River Basin. By building the capacity of stakeholders responsible for implementing and overseeing the Fund, the workshop contributes to strengthening governance, promoting accountability, and enhancing the effectiveness of future investments in the basin.
