Project Preparation Meeting with representatives of the Ministries of Finance and Ministries of Water from Angola ,Botswana and Namibia,Hotel Hilton Garden Inn. Gaborone, Botswana
Tuesday, February 3, 2026 to Wednesday, February 4, 2026

OKACOM with support from the World bank is hosting a 2 day project preparatory meeting with representatives of Ministries of finance and of water from Angola, Botswana and Namibia, including representatives from World Bank Treasury; and Development Partners (EU, AFD,UNDP) currently engaged in the preparation of projects to support the CORB Fund.
The World Bank is preparing a regional project, the “Cubango-Okavango River Basin (CORB): Financing Innovationin Transboundary Waters” project (a grant provided by the Global Environment Facility, GEF) to support the operationalization and long-term viability of the CORB Fund, advancing sustainable development in the Cubango-Okavango basin.
The project under preparation seeks to pioneer innovative financing mechanisms that can address priority challenges identified by the three member states. Beyond immediate needs, the initiative aims to build a foundation for larger and more complex investments in the future. A key focal point of the meeting will be the financing roadmap for the CORB Fund, including the steps required to capitalize its endowment fund and ensure its long‑term sustainability.
In bringing together governments, financial experts, and development partners, this meeting represents a critical step toward securing the CORB’s ecological integrity while unlocking development opportunities .
